Mary R. Davie

Mary Davie (nee Raczkiewicz), a gentle presence of love and light, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, in Evanston, Illinois, at the age of 76. Born in Wiltshire, England, to Joseph and Janina Raczkiewicz (nee Puternicka), Mary’s life was a testament to her loving and caring nature. Mary’s journey led her family to America and through Ellis Island, one of the last to pass through its storied halls, in search of a new life and a childhood in the Chicago area and ultimately - Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Her passion for language and communication paved the way for a fulfilling career spanning over three decades in the airline industry at TWA. Following her successful tenure in the airline industry, Mary transitioned into financial planning, where she supported the Chicago Market Group leadership team at Ameriprise Financial, providing vital organizational skills and managing their events and meetings for ten years. Mary’s personal life was filled with the same passion and commitment she brought to her professional endeavors. She was married to the late Robert James Davie for 34 years, a union that was both loving and inspirational. Together, they raised three children: Barrett C. Davie (Samantha), Jocelyn A. Davie, and Robert C. Davie. Mary’s role as a grandmother to Ford, Taylor, and Carolyn Davie was one of her greatest joys, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her spirit was nourished by a lifelong love of travel, music and dancing, which she often shared with her identical twin sister, Harriet. Visiting more than 100 countries around the world, a passion that shaped some of their happiest years. Mary’s legacy is one of enduring love and the pursuit of family and friends. Her journey every day led with a smile on her face and infectious laughter signaling her approach. Mary’s children and grandchildren will always remember her for unending support, and she will live on in all of our hearts. Her presence will be deeply missed. As we bid farewell to Mary, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that touched so many. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at The Church of the Holy Spirit, 400 E. Westminster Road, Lake Forest. Interment will be private.
