John Patrick Redmond

John Patrick Redmond passed away November 12, 2023 in Davenport, Iowa at the age of 62. John Patrick Redmond (Johnny) was born to Judith Edwards Redmond and John Lawrence Redmond of Lake Forest, Illinois on March 27, 1961. Johnny spent his childhood in a beautiful home filled with flowers from the Redmond Family Gardens and his three older sisters (Rosemary, Renee` and Patty). Their mother Judy was an extraordinary cook crafting dinners with all the heirloom vegetables from their gardens and creating magical holidays brimming with Christmas Cookies the likes of which you've never seen. Perhaps it was this home filled with women, sewing machines, beautiful classical & operatic music, needlepoint & days playing beauty parlor which drove Johnny to the garage learning to work on cars and all kinds of machinery. Johnny attended Gorton Elementary School, Deerpath Middle School then Lake Forest High School where both he and his best friend, Jamie Giangiorgi dominated the Defensive side of the football for the Lake Forest High Scouts. He is remembered by old team mates for bringing his enormous Pioneer Speakers into the locker room, blasting 70's rock, pumping everyone up before the big game. Johnny went on to become a Fireman with Knollwood Fire Department of Lake Bluff, a Heavy Equipment Operator, Welder and later, a repair specialist for the Pierce Fire Truck Manufacturing Company of Appleton, Wisconsin. Johnny loved hunting, monster trucks, hard work, practical jokes & most of all, the United States of America. He is preceded in death by his mother Judith (1999), his Sister Renee (2015), and Sister Rosemary Strohl (2020). He will be remembered with his Father, John Lawrence Redmond (1931-2024) and his Sister Patricia Joanne Redmond Landry (1960-2025) who passed away shortly after Johnny's death. John Patrick, his father, John Lawrence and sister, Patricia Redmond will together be memorialized by a family Mass held at 10:00am on Friday July 11, 2025 at the Church of St. Mary, 175 Illinois Road, Lake Forest, IL.
