Jacklyne F. Deters

Jacklyne F. Deters, 79, a longtime resident of Lake Forest, Illinois passed away February 13, 2019 in the comfort of her home surrounded by family. She was born October 7, 1939 in Cincinnati, Ohio and attended Western Hills High School and University of Cincinnati. She is preceded in death by her parents Charles W. Eaton & Bessie I. Decker Eaton/Alexander; her sister Janet Eaton/Royer/Lefker; and her brother Charles Eaton. She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years James R. Deters; her loving children James Joseph Deters of Lake Forest, IL, Deborah Kay Deters of Lake Forest, IL & Dubuque, IA; her grandchildren Brooke Ashley Royer, Brittney Elizabeth Manning, and Joseph Deters Manning. First and foremost, Jackie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. Her love also extended to the many sheepdogs that were part of the family; most recently, Tiffany & Truffles who were by her side every moment. Jackie’s home was her pride and joy. She worked tirelessly on creating a beautiful environment for her family. She designed and oversaw the construction of an astonishing children’s playhouse for her grandchildren and other children to enjoy. She enjoyed gardening and created a stunning flower garden that surrounded her home. Jackie was known for her presence and grace. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She was fortunate to be loved by many. Jackie and husband Jim were long time members of The Onwentsia Club in Lake Forest, IL and Tehama Golf Club in Carmel, CA. She was an active member in the Lake Forest community and member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Forest, IL. She enjoyed traveling and loved the many places they would visit with family and friends, but her most cherished place was Cadillac Mountain in Maine. She was a loyal and devoted friend and will be missed by many. Jackie and Jim’s love for one another is remarkable and spans well over 60 years! To honor both Jackie’s life and their marriage, the family is planning a memorial tribute on Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 4pm to 6pm at Onwentsia Club, 300 North Green Bay Road, Lake Forest, IL 60045.
