Tracie C. Oliver Fitzgerald, a beacon of kindness, intelligence, and selflessness, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 25, 2024, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Born in Branford, Ontario, Tracie's journey began as a cherished daughter where she cultivated a love for learning. Her academic prowess led her to Queen's University, where she earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees, laying the groundwork for a future as bright as her intellect. Her thirst for knowledge didn't stop there; she further honed her skills with an MBA from the prestigious Schulich School of Business at York University. Tracie and her family lived in both Livermore CA, then Lambertville N.J. before moving to Lake Forest, Illinois. Here, she spent 17 wonderful years cultivating close friendships with those in the community. Professionally, Tracie's career was as distinguished as it was impactful. She thrived in the biotech healthcare industry, where her expertise and ethical compass lead her to various executive healthcare roles, serving for 20 years as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Johnson & Johnson; then went on to serve 9 years as Vice President of Baxter-Baxalta Shire; worked as a Strategic Consultant for several start-up pharmaceutical companies; then went on to achieve Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals. Her colleagues revered her not only for her professional acumen but also for her innate ability to lead with grace and integrity. Tracie's personal life was filled with just as much love and accomplishment as her professional one. She was the cherished wife of Michael Fitzgerald, with whom she shared 26 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with joy, support, and mutual respect. Tracie was a beloved mother to John "Jack" Fitzgerald, whose life was enriched by her unwavering support and love. Jack's partner, Monique Rivard, also held a special place in Tracie's heart. Her family circle extended to include her dearest sister, Terrie Sage (Ronald), and her brother, Jeffery Oliver. Tracie was treasured by her mother-in-law, Barbara Nikel, and sister-in-law, Beverley Fitzgerald. In her final days, she was cared for with utmost compassion by Barb Fitzgerald and her husband, Dr. Malcolm Moore. Tracie's warmth and generosity of spirit were felt by many, including her nieces and nephews: Caitlin Oliver, Libby Oliver, Matthew Fitzgerald (Jennifer), Katie La Buick (Scott), Ryan Sage (Rebecca), Ashley Davies (Tom), and Lindsay Gillilan (Justin). Her life was also enriched by the companionship of George Cook and Emily Marsters, as well as her cousin Cyndi Kennedy and the extended family who will all hold her memory dear. Beyond her family and career, Tracie found solace and happiness at the family cottage in Honey Harbor, Ontario, Canada. Summers there were a special time, where she could immerse herself in the tranquility of nature and the joy of family gatherings. Those who knew Tracie will remember her as a woman of exceptional intellect, a kind soul who always put others before herself, and a selfless individual whose actions spoke volumes of her character. Through her husband Michael's service as a Funeral Director for Reuland & Turnbough Funeral Directors of Lake Forest for several years, Tracie formed relationships with our staff who will forever remember her elegance, kindness, and graciousness. Her legacy is one of love, leadership, and the profound impact she had on everyone she encountered. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 1 p.m. at St. Cuthbert’s Church, Leaside (1399 Bayview Ave, at Davisville, Toronto) with a reception to follow.
