Patrícía (Patty) Joanne Redmònd, Age 65, daughter of Judith Edwards Redmond & John Lawrence Redmond was born on Wednesday, February the 3rd, 1960 at Lake Forest Hospital, Lake Forest, Illinois where her mother, Judy Redmond had been an Obstetrics Nurse. Patty's father, John worked as a professional plumber with DiPietro Plumbing where he was an active member of the Plumber's Local 130 for 40 years. John Redmond was also among the first one hundred children born in Lake Forest. Patty shared her childhood home on Washington Circle near South Park in Lake Forest with her three siblings, Rosemary, Renee`, & Johnny. The family home was forever filled with flowers. Vases of Dahlias, Peonies, Gladiolas, Foxglove and endless vegetables gleaned from the grand groves of the Redmond Gardens, a neighborhood legend passionately planned and nurtured by her father. There was always the hum of a sewing machine with tissued patterns strewn about the sewing table and a new, needle pointed pillow or rug in the works. It was a home rich with beautiful music, elegant dinners and unforgettable celebrations like Rosemary and husband Randy's wedding. Legendary Christmases with gorgeous, homemade cookies & pates, Easter parties, garden birthdays and anniversary parties, were at the heart of the Redmond family. And Champagne! Always Champagne! It was from this home that Patty cultivated her own extraordinary skill at exquisite table settings, gifts wrapped with extravagance, and above all, fashionable Couture. Patty attended Gorton Elementary School where she graduated early to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. There Patty began an extraordinary career that took her from New York to París and Hong Kong. She worked for premier design houses including Cathy Hardwick, Grupo Americano, Dana Buchman, and Zelda. Patty held the desk of Senior Designer at Chico's until late last year. A vibrant and imaginative zest made Patty's talent remarkable. It was a holiday weekend in Booth Bay Harbor where Patty met the love of her life. And it was with this man, William (Billy) Landry, she would spend the next 40 years. They were married this past Valentine's Day 2025. Together they traveled, enjoyed cruises and Mexico, boated along the eastern seaboard and earned reputations for convivial parties thrown in high style. One of their grand projects was the successful restoration of their late 18th century house in Kennebunk, Maine. It is Billy's pride and a lasting testament to the joys of their relationship. Patricia Redmond always carried the distinction of being a best friend to all she called friend. What an incredible thing to be able to say. Her magnificent taste was unrivaled. She was always gracious, always stalwart and always tolerant. She was gentle, forgiving and absolutely never complained. ~We are all infinitely richer having known her. Patty is survived by her husband, William Landry, her niece Renee` Strohl, great niece Mackenzie Spear, her best friend Meg Barner Dhamer and the many special friends and relatives who were Blessed to know her. She is proceeded in death by her mother Judith (1999), father John (2024), sister Rosemary (2020) (Randall Strohl), sister Renee (2015) and her Brother Johnny (2023). The entire Redmond Family of Lake Forest is now at rest. A special thank you to the gifted & pious staff of Hope Hospice of Fort Myers, Florida who afforded Patty the privilege of peace and dignity at home. May God Bless You Always. Patricia, her father, John Lawrence and brother, John Patrick Redmond will together be memorialized by a visitation on Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 4pm-7pm at Wenban Funeral Home, 320 Vine Avenue, Lake Forest, IL. A funeral Mass will follow on July 11, 2025 at 10:00am at the Church of St. Mary, 175 Illinois Road, Lake Forest, IL. The Mass will be livestreamed. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Lake Forest, IL.
