Anne H. Litchfield

Anne Havard Litchfield, 88, of Lake Forest, Illinois passed away surrounded by the love of her family on February 19, 2025. She was born in Long Beach, CA and was a longtime resident of Glen Rock, NJ and then Lake Forest, Illinois. Anne brought warmth and brilliance to the world with her gentle, loving spirit, touching the lives of all who knew her. Anne was a devoted wife to the late John C. Litchfield (2021), her partner of over six decades, and a nurturing mother to her three children, John (Kathleen) Litchfield, the late Anna Litchfield, and Aline (Thomas) Shapiro. She carried the legacy of her parents, RADM Valery Havard Jr. and Anna Burgess Havard, with grace and pride. She was blessed with five grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, and who fondly remember their grandmother's tender care and infinite wisdom. A graduate of St. Agnes High School in Alexandria, Virginia, and Holton-Arms Junior College in Washington D.C., Anne dedicated her career to serving her community as a long-time librarian at Lake Forest Library and at Williams Sonoma in Lake Forest. A valued member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest, her faith and commitment to service shone brightly through her many years of involvement. Anne's zest for life was evident in her rich history as the daughter of a career Naval officer, which led her to living in Cuba for a period of time. Her culinary prowess was unmatched, and she was known far and wide as a baking wiz and an unparalleled hostess. Heartfelt family and friend visits marked her appreciation for travel and connection. Her legacy of warmth, kindness, and intellect will be remembered as beacons guiding her family and the multitude of friends she made and cherished throughout her lifetime. Anne H. Litchfield will be dearly missed, yet her life's joyous melody will eternally resonate in the hearts of those she loved. A Memorial Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest, 700 N. Sheridan Road, Lake Forest, on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 10 AM CST followed by a reception at the church.
