Carole Ann Fournier

Carole Ann Fournier (née Busch) passed away on November 24, 2024 in Vernon Hills, IL, in hospice, with all of her children providing love and comfort to her in her last days. Carole Ann was born on November 6, 1941 to Edward William Busch, Sr. and Loretta Frances Busch (née Barth) in Union City, NJ. Carole Ann grew up in the New York/New Jersey area and in her early school years attended Catholic school. She graduated from Westwood High School in 1959, where she was the Valedictorian. Carole Ann enjoyed being very involved in high school, serving on the student council, and the school newspaper staff, as well as in the drama club, having a leading role in the senior class play. Outside of school, Carole Ann’s interests included her church group, musical theatre, and part-time work. She loved history, and business, and after high school studied those at Fairleigh Dickinson University, while also participating in beauty pageants, and working as an executive assistant at publishing company McGraw-Hill in Manhattan, NY. In 1963 Carole Ann met the love of her life, William Joseph Fournier, Jr. (“Bill”), on a blind date arranged by mutual friends. Bill was a Marine Corps officer, and was working in sales for General Electric during the day while putting himself through MBA school at night. Bill and Carole Ann were married on April 4, 1964 in a nuptial mass at the Roman Catholic Church of the Assumption in Emerson, NJ. Carole Ann loved being a homemaker and supporting her husband and children through that role. Family was a priority for Carole Ann, which was a beautiful blessing to her husband and children, all of whom deeply appreciated her for it. Bill’s career in the pharmaceutical industry provided many fun times and opportunities for Carole Ann and Bill to enjoy together as they built a life together. The year 2024 brought their 60th wedding anniversary, which was celebrated by a special family reunion over the 4th of July week, all of which was particularly meaningful and significant as Bill passed away a few weeks later from a terminal illness. Carole Ann will be remembered for her love for her family, and of the holidays, which brought them all together for the delicious meals she made, including, but not limited to, her sausage stuffing recipe. She’ll also be remembered for her wise advice, her delightful skill of having a show tune for nearly every occasion, her incredible skill at Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, and Jeopardy, and the way she was ambitious for, and supporting of, her children. She is survived by her sons Kevin (Denise) Fournier of San Mateo, CA and Keith (Alaina) Fournier of Lake Forest, IL, daughter Michelle Fournier Ingle of Urbandale, IA, grandsons Paddy Fournier, Liam Fournier and Colin Fournier, granddaughters Hannah (Ben) Ahnen, Katie Ingle, Chloe Fournier and Evie Fournier, and great-granddaughter Emmy Ahnen. Carole Ann was predeceased by their son, William Joseph Fournier, III (“Billy”). She is interred at Ascension Catholic Cemetery in Libertyville, IL, alongside Bill, now reunited with him in death, and leaving an incredible legacy for the generations they have contributed to the world.
